Benefits Of Green Drinks & The Ultimate Green Smoothie
Recently, I ‘ve found myself hooked to green drinks and seeing the amazing benefits I am getting, it looks like I am hooked for life. I make sure to have one green smoothie/day for breakfast and often another in the evening. The nicest thing about making it yourself is that you can customize it to suit your needs and control what goes in! I make mine yummy because I like taste. I cannot drink concoctions that do not taste good. Plus, I add a little protein powder so it actually holds me until lunch time! If you’re into green drinks try and make your own! It’s easy and fresh and will taste great! It is also a better source of live enzymes. The store brand ones on the grocery shelves have been flash pasteurized which makes them void of live enzymes. I am sharing with you my favorite recipe and I am giving you a list of “stuff ” you can put into your green concoction to make it “your own “!! Not convinced? Well! Here are some compelling reasons to drink the green stuff !
Why Go Green ?
Best source of chlorophyl : chlorophyl has been used to treat or prevent certain types of cancers, such as colon, skin and liver cancer. It is said to prevent damage to DNA caused by certain carcinogens.
Weight loss : The specific enzymes that are needed to break down fatty acids are increased in people who eat a diet high in foods containing chlorophyll or take chlorophyll supplements. As fatty acids in the cells are broken down they are used for energy, promoting weight loss.
Easily absorbed nutrient form : A great source of varied vitamins, minerals, micro nutrients, live enzymes and antioxidants which infuse your body.
Make body alkaline : Being highly alkaline, they also help to boost the body’s energy levels and remove toxins from the lymph system whilst encouraging new cell growth. The more alkaline your body is, the better it is for your health. Read my tweaked version of the alkaline diet for some easy tips to achieve an alkaline PH.
Some other benefits of taking green smoothies are good digestion, increased energy, improved immunity, mental acuity, fat burning benefits and joint health !
Foods to add to green smoothies !

Don’t let this list intimidate you !!! I just like to give you lots of options

Tips
When introducing kids to green smoothies, add a lot of fruit like green grapes, banana and other fruit to make it sweeter.
It is easier to juice celery and then add it to a green smoothie. Blending celery to a smooth consistency can be difficult. If adding celery to the smoothie, add small amounts.
When you start off on green smoothies , keep in mind that they tend to clean out your system. Adding banana and whey protein makes it easier on the digestive system.
