Warm Broiled Grapefruit With Cinnamon Brown Sugar & Cayenne

Warm Broiled Grapefruit With Cinnamon Brown Sugar & Cayenne

Warm Broiled grapefruit with cinnamon brown sugar and just a touch of cayenne makes a spicy sweet treat bursting with vitamin C & goodness! One of my friends gave me a box of pink grapefruit and I have been trying to get creative and have been preparing grapefruit different ways.  One of my favorite ways to eat it is warm. Broiled grapefruit makes a sweet N spicy treat, especially with a touch of brown sugar, cinnamon and cayenne. Brush a little coconut oil on it and it becomes a decadent treat! Perfect for that cold evening when you’re craving something warm and sweet and healthy!  If you don’t like raw grapefruit, you may like the broiled version. Broiling fruit intensifies the flavor and brown sugar sweetens it. You can skip the cayenne if you just want the sweet taste. I like the cayenne touch because it adds a spicy kick to it and I love spicy :)!!  This recipe is so simple I don’t even need to put out a recipe card, but I did anyway. If you’re not a grapefruit lover, try this broiled version and see if you don’t love it!! To turn broiled grape fruit into real dessert, scoop it out and serve with a dollop of Greek yogurt or coconut cream!

Nutrition Wise!

Pink grapefruit is bursting with vitamin C! Pink grapefruit have even more health attributes than white grapefruit. It contains lycopene, a powerful carotenoid that improves heart health and is also protective against skin cancer. It is also an “excellent” source of vitamin A and a “good” source of fiber, potassium, and vitamin B5. Cinnamon is a powerful antioxidant that helps to keep blood sugar steady.

Note: Do not eat grapefruit if you’re on cholesterol lowering drugs like Statins and Lipitor because of the drug nutrient interactions. If doubtful about whether you medications may interact with grapefruit, check with your physician.

  • Whoa ! This looks amazing. Never tried cayenne on grapefruit before. Are you sure ? just kidding ! will make it and tell ya 🙂 !

    • Nope ! Cayenne actually makes it taste sweeter and peps it up a bit. But I like cayenne in everything so …. you make it and see if you like it !

  • I have eaten broiled GF with salt and pepper before & it tastes great. This version sounds like dessert ! Like the coconut oil touch and the Greek Yogurt. That’s what I’m going to eat with my grilled grapefruit ! Beautiful pics Sue !!! You made grapefruit look super glam !! Good job !

  • It may be common but I never thought to broiling grapefruit. This reminds me of the time I went on a 3-day citrus cleanse. I was to consume just grapefruit with orange juice. I think the latter was meant to sweeten the former. However, I picked up some gnarly looking grapefruit that was pink on the inside. They were much sweeter than the oranges. Wish I remembered the name of those gems. I think it was a Red Grapefruit.

    • Red grapefruit is my favorite kind. It’s quite sweet, so can skip the sugar and just use salt too. I actually love grapefruit and have been getting creative with it this week. Even made soup 🙂 ! Maybe I should go on citrus cleans. Use up the grapefruit & help my body too. Checking online for the cleanse now!
