My favorite Posts Of 2017 and Lessons Learnt

It’s New Year’s Eve and I am home with my family watching a movie, warm fireplace etc. No-where else I would rather be but am a little restless.  Sometimes end of year gets me restless and introspective and so I decided to blog.  Blogging had always been cathartic to me and I know when I finish this post I will be free of my restless thoughts and be ready to embrace 2018.  Family doesn’t mind as long as I finish by 11:45 and we do our usual New Year ritual.  I usually do a round- up of my favorite posts every year so here goes!

Well this year I have blogged more which is a good thing and I definitely plan to blog more in 2018 and I am going to be more disciplined blogging wise.

My favorite posts of 2017

My Kombucha post is one of my favs. I learned how to make my own kombucha thanks to a fellow nutritionist who told me how easy it was and after I got on the kombucha bandwagon, I can’t get off.  It’s been 10 months since I started brewing my booch and since then I have given more than a dozen healthy scobys to others and have gotten them to make homemade kombucha as well! No one has sued me since so am guessing they are brewing their own batches of probiotic rich kombucha!

Bone Broth: Ever since I heard about the benefits of bone broth I started making my own at home and it has helped my bones, joints and the mild arthritis I had. I can jog, run and exercise better thanks to the healing properties of bone broth. So much so, I have advocated bone broth to all my clients who need better bone health! Even on days when I don’t have a supply I use the powdered version and am quite addicted so to speak.

Dal with spinach in my instapot: I am a huge fan of the instapot and am joining the group of so called potheads in singing its praises! The ease, convenience and flavor of cooking in the instapot is something I absolutely love. This dish was super simple and since then, I have made biryani, pork chops, butter chicken, chicken rogandosh and other yummy recipes in the instapot. It is my favorite kitchen gadget and you can expect to see more instapot recipes on my blog in the New Year!

As for my personal life, 2017 has been one heck of a rollercoaster bringing surprises that I never imagined.  As with roller coasters there have been highs and lows, tears and laughter and it’s been one big ride. I am grateful for valuable lessons learnt and experiences that shaped me to be in a better place than I was last year. I have learnt to be more tolerant and accepting of people and not to mind when people don’t accept me. Its’s ok. Life is not a popularity contest and as you long as you stay true to yourself its ok. Everyone is different and you accept that and move on without expectations.  Social media had always been a part of my life but I have learnt this year to unplug when I need to or when I feel it’s taking me away from important things in life which to me is my family. I will always be connected to social media but I will not let it control me. Still a working progress but yep, learning and getting better.  Other lessons I have learnt this year was to be a little less sensitive and thicker skinned. I have learnt that you are in control of how you perceive things. If you perceive something as positive it will be that, if you perceive something as negative it will be that and if you perceive something as a teaching moment it will be that. Only you have the power to make yourself feel sad or happy and if you choose happy, no one can take that away from you. Again working progress but better than I was last year.  Another plus for me this year was that I became braver and bolder in the way I perceive and portray myself. If you have read my personal vents you know I have had my own share of struggles with self-esteem growing up. I have learnt to love myself and what I am without wanting more and have learnt to build on my strengths and be my own unique me. My love for fitness is a plus and it is also my stress reliever. I have spent many an hour in the gym and outdoors running my stress away.  I guess I could go on but I will stop. These are the important lessons that 2017 brought me and even as I leave 2017 with all its highs and lows behind I am looking forward to 2018 and what it has in store. 2017 has made me a stronger person than I ever imagined and 2018 will be better.

To all my readers, a huge thanks you for all your support and for reading my posts.  Have a fabulous 2018 and check back here often for any nutrition nuggets that I may have for you. Love
