Venison Stir Fry with tender snow pea shooters and sesame seeds make a healthy dish packed with flavor. This Asian inspired stir fry came into being the minute I saw the fresh pack of snow pea shooters that arrived at my door step courtesy of Jade Asian Greens. I got a huge shipment a few days back and have been creating gorgeous green dishes all week, most of which I will be blogging over the next month.  If you’ve never eaten snow pea shooters before, you have to try them. A cross between tender spinach and snow peas these incredibly nutritious tender shoots impart a unique flavor to any dish. I love cooking venison and venison stir fry is one of our favorite ways to eat venison. I added some red peppers, spring onions to the snow pea shooters and mixed in some toasted sesame seeds, fresh ginger and a delish Asian inspired venison stir fry was born. The snow pea shooters from Jade Asian Greens were fresh, crisp, clean, ready to cook and I loved using them!! Check out the picture below.

 

 

Nutrition Wise !

Venison is great source of lean protein, iron, zinc and Vitamin B. Not to mention organic and low in fat. Think about it … Deer are constantly running  and they don’t store fat ! Snow pea shooters are a nutrient dense leafy vegetable. This means for very few calories, you get large amounts of vitamins and minerals. They are high in fiber, potassium and Vitamin C. Sesame seeds add a healthy dose of Vitamin E and fiber to this dish. All in all,  a healthy venison stir fry !!

 

 

 

 

Venison Stir Fry with Snow Pea Shooters

Ingredients

  • 1lb venison (cut into strips)
  • 1 bunch spring onions (chopped)
  • 2 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp sesame seeds (toasted)
  • 2 bell peppers (cut into strips)
  • 2 Tsp fresh ginger (grated or pureed)
  • 1 Tsp cumin powder
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1 Tsp red chili pepper flakes (or 1/2 tsp chili powder ( optional))
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 Cups snap pea shooters (washed and cut)

Directions

Heat oil. Add cumin, sesame seeds, chili flakes, salt and meat and fry for 7-9 minutes till cooked.
Add red pepper, spring onion and saute for 2-3 minutes.
Add snap pea shooters and saute for 3-4 minutes till greens are wilted and nicely mixed in
Add soy sauce and saute for 1 minute and take off the fire. Eat warm with rice or rice noodles.
