Tandoori  Chicken Pizza with Fresh Basil & Mozzarella #SundaySupper


A rustic pizza with tender tandoori chicken, fresh basil and mozzarella is what I made for  our Sunday Supper celebration of ” National Pizza month”.  East meets West in this spicy, sweet, herbaceous, zippy pizza which tickles the palate and hits your taste buds with some serious kick! I have made tandoori chicken pizza before and my family loved it so I decided to do a spin off my usual tandoori chicken pizza by using some new ingredients. I topped the chicken with a layer of fresh basil and slices of mozzarella. I used Naan aka Indian bread as the pizza base.  The naan was a  small size which gave us 4 decent slices per pizza and  it turned out slightly larger than a pan pizza.  If you’re feeding more than 2 or 3 people I would recommend you make at least two pizzas unless you plan on using a larger  naan or pizza crust.  The nice thing about this dish is you can make the chicken ahead of time.  I made tandoori chicken for dinner last night and the leftover chicken became today’s pizza.  You can grab the recipe for my tandoori chicken here.  Overall I was quite pleased with the experiment.  Melted chunks of mozzarella on top of tender spicy chicken tasted entirely too yummy.  Basil added a fresh feel and mingled well with the other flavors.  Family loved it and I hope you will too. Nutrition wise : Chicken is a good source of lean protein, iron, zinc and B12.  Basil is high in vitamin C , A and K.  Cheese adds  calcium and vitamin D while the wholegrain crust gives you some healthy carbs. Not a bad one pot meal in a pizza!


Tandoori Chicken Pizza with Basil & Mozzarella

Serves 4
Dietary Diabetic

Misc Child Friendly, Freezable, Serve Hot


  • 1 naan
  • 2 Tandoori chicken drumsticks (deboned)
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup or 6 slices mozzarella
  • 2 Tsp marinara


Spread marinara on the naan
layer with de-boned chicken
Add a layer of basil on the chicken
Break up the mozzarella slices into half and arrange over the pizza
Bake at 375 for 10 minutes
